Western claimed at least a share of the MIC crown with a 3-2 win over the previously unbeaten Peru Tigers. With the win, Western moves to 6-0 in the conference. Hamilton Heights is all that stands between Western and the MIC crown.
The singles group was the difference as Brad DiCarlo won 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1 singles. Aaron Anderson at No. 2 singles won 6-1, 6-1 and Jacob Welker took the No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-0.
In doubles action, Peru’s James Guthrie and Brandt Manriquez won 7-6 (9-7), 6-1 in No. 1 doubles. Brandon Rush and Zach Saylor won 6-4, 6-7 (9-7), 6-3 in the closest match of the evening.
Western will look to wrap up the conference championship on Thursday night at home against Hamilton Heights.
