The Peru  Tiger wrestling team recently took action over Christmas break at the 32 team Al Smith classic at Mishiwaka High School, and three day later turned around to wrestle at the John Mckee Memorial Tournament at Rodchester High School.

The Al Smith classic is legitimately the  hardest individual tournament in the  state of Indiana with the exception of the state finals series.  It took place on December 29th and 30th .Peru had 5 guys advance to the  second day of action, they put 3 in the semi finals and one lone tiger wrestler in the finals. Peru’s 152lbs. senior  Dustin Kern (4-1) lead the tigers through the course of the tournament. Brett Wordon finished 4th (3-2) , Dalton Sparks came in with a 5rd (4-3), Aaron Garretson 6th (3-3) and Shannon Garretson  7th (4-2). The Tiger’s finish out the tournament coming in 10th as a team.

Last Saturday The Tigers  took action at the John Mckee Memorial  tournament. As a team peru had one champion (Aaron Garretson)and three 2rd place finishes. The Tigers scheduled this tournament in as a make-up because of the cancellation of the Twin Lakes Invite that they were scheduled to take part in. As a team the tiger’s finish second behind Northridge High School.

The Tigers will take action at home on Thursday night January 8th against cross county rivals Maconaquah Braves in the Tiger Den at 6 p.m. Peru will be honoring their senior’s on this night.
