There are a number of power conferences in Indiana when it comes to wrestling. However,
no league in the state did any better in sectional action last weekend than the
Mid-Indiana Conference. The league crowned two team sectional champions. Peru took the title at its own sectional and Hamilton Heights did the same. The Tigers will
now host Marion in the Peru Regional while Hamilton Heights draws the
unenviable task of chopping down #4 Indianapolis Cathedral at North Montgomery.

The two schools were dominant in their performances in
sectional action. Peru
advanced 11 individuals to regional competition and claimed five individual
championships. The Huskies also advanced 11 wrestlers and took top honors in
four weight classes.

The rest of the Mid-Indiana gave generally strong showings.
Maconaquah finished third at Peru
and advanced seven grapplers with two champions. At Oak Hill, Western advanced
six wrestlers and took one title while finishing third. Northwestern ended
sixth while also advancing six individuals. The Tigers actually had two
individual champions. Taylor
finished seventh, advancing six and crowning one champion. Eastern advanced
only five wrestlers, but finished fifth in the overall standings.

Cass traveled north to Twin Lakes
for its sectional action. The Kings finished seventh in the team standings.
They pushed three individuals through to the regional round, but two of those were
weight class champions.
